Very Easy Very Vogue 7313, c. 1988, High waisted skirt and pants with suspenders

Very Easy Very Vogue
Vogue 7313
c. 1988

Very Easy, Very Vogue 7313, fitted and flared or tapered skirt, above mid-knee or tapered pants have shaped, partial waistband. A,B: Front princess seams. C: front pleats, B, C: Straps with back-button closing.

Remember the high waisted look from the mid- to late-eighties? What about suspenders? Not the rainbow-brite suspenders made popular by Mork from Mork and Mindy, but the more subdued, business-like suspenders from the yuppie era.

Well, this pattern combines both trends. Although the suspenders on this skirt and pant are anything but business-like. They're a bit s*xy wouldn't you say? They appear to be shaped more like a cut out halter top.

This pattern isn't one that I was interested in at the time and would look rather silly on me today, but if you're interested, it's available on my new Etsy retro/vintage pattern shop.

View A is the only one that would be workable for me. I like the princess lines of the straight skirt and the little V at the waistline adds some interest to the high waist. On the other hand, the suspenders would look silly on anyone with a chest or over the age of 30.
